Merseyside Senior Inter League Winners
Southport (A)
Refereed By Ray Jones

Unfortunately Prescot were unable to form a team due do other commitments, but in spite of that the Senior Inter League was a resounding success.
Widnes (A) went out with a big bang as the time bomb started ticking with Mark King being smashed by Robbie Wilson of Formby 29-83, next it was secretary Andy Housleys' turn only just being beat by Rob Radford 35-43, so it was to John Mercer to save the day; well that was the plan anyway as all planners know changes do happen what do know yep John lost as well 36-55 Widnes (A) went down to formby (A) 0-3, then the final between Formby (A) and Souhtport (A).
Looked like a got fight was going to take hold between the two sides and sure enough they did not disapoint. first was Gareth Hibbott of Southport take on Mark Bellas of Formby with Gareth walking over Mark beating him 26-76, next Rob Wilson to play Phil Fitzgerald but looked like used all of his energy in the semi and falls to Phil 15-69, next up was Junior Champion of Champion Runner-up Paddy Tyndall against Southports Nicky Fruin but wait paddy wins 66-45 bringing it back to 1-2 then Mark Hopgood for formby tries his luck against Merseyside open Semi Finalist Chris Achillies well could this be the comeback of the century chris getting beat 52-5, to the final frame of the competition Formby put Rob Radford on against Will Jerrem who is it going to be well with Jerrem having to get off in a rush after his match you would think it would be Rob but you would of cause be wrong Will went on to beat Rob 33-74 winning the match for Southport 2-3, unlucky Formby maybe next year.

Merseyside Intermediate Inter League Winners
Widnes (B)
Refereed By Iain Wallwork

The Intermediate Inter League Competition was going to completely different. Speedy Generators St Helens only turned up with four men? Well this must have been confident yes? No it seem there fifth man said he was coming but never got there so they at least attempted to taken the Garston (B) side. Paul Fox was first beating Lee Gannon of Garston (B) 55-22, next came Jason Fairhurst of St Helens (B) and Carl Larsen with Carl winning 21-63, Andy White put on a fantasic performance knocking in a break of 43 only to be pipped by Jimmy Danky losing 54-58. Rob Rigby decided to play his frame even though no matter what happened the team could not win unless their fifth man appeared before the end of the frame, he done him self proud winning comfortably 68-29. Even so Garston (B) go through into the Final Winning score 2-3.
In ths ohter Semi it was Formby (B) to take on Widnes (B). Young Jamie Rae of Formby (B) versus Ste Andrews of the Widnes (B), could the Widnes (B) side play any better than the Widnes (A) side yes of cause they must have had the wrong letters after the team names in Widnes Ste Andrews smashing Jamie 36-91 then Steve Evans getting the same treatment from Leon Hosking with Leon winning 18-74, it was up to James Tristram to same the day for Formby (B) with James Beating Mike Batty 66-17 next up for Formby (B) was Luke Palethorpe against John Ratcliffe of Widnes (B) were Widnes (B) going out as well as cause not this was a better side than the Widnes (A) they put up a fight and John came out on top for Widnes winning (B) 59-67 which meant Widnes (B) Won 1-3 and went into the final agaisnt Garston (B).
Widnes (B) won the toss in the final and forced Garston (B) to put the name first so It was down to Chris Radley to get Garston (B) into pole postion in the final Ste Andrews however had other ideas Beating Chris 73-25, Mike King went on next for Widnes (B) to play Ste O'Hare, King winning 76-41. Were Widnes (B) going to walk away with a title after all, wait Carl Larsen steps up for Garston (B) and stuttles the jubilent Widnes crew by winning against Jason Kilshaw 35-74. Widnes (B) still have their secret weapon of Leon Hosking do they put him on and hope he plays as well as he did in Semies or do they holf him back? Its their choice of name yep its Leon Hosking versus Jimmy Danliy with Leon being dominant and winning 77-35 this gave the championship to Widnes 3-1 Congratulations Widnes (B) well deserved Victory.

North West 3 Man Merseyside Area Qualifiers
The Northwest 3-Man Merseyside Area Qualifiers was a poor turnout this year due to it being at same time as Pontins week but even so it was a good well fought competition with "Freddies Social" (Paul Kelly, John Hilton, Mike McNally, Paul Owens) playing the "The Gravity Crew" a young side from the Liverpool Academy (Adam Brown, Cory Harvey, Clayton Humphries) and Freddies Losing 4-3. Next was "The Hotshots" myself with a few of the youngsters from the Liverpool Academy who played "Chester Conservatives" (Neal Jones, Lee Stephens, Steve Walker, and Allan Taylor who beat us 4-0. "Widnes Conservatives" and "George Scott Club" both got a bye Widnes hung on in taking George Scott Club to 4-3, George Scott Club should have been renamed to "The Grinders" with Harry Burns, Ronnie Wynne and Paul Reid. "The Gravity Crew" then played "Chester Conservatives" Losing 4-0 with a break from Lee Stephens of 79 and a great effort from Adam Brown playing Allan Taylor nearly Dishing up to snatch the first frame from Allan but lost concentration missing the brown."Widnes Conservatives" then played "Chester Conservatives" in the Qualifier Stage and despite a good attempt by "Widnes Conservatives" it was tio no avail and "Chester Conservatives" won 4-0 and now represent Merseyside Area in the Final Stages to be arrange.
Also due to the poor turnout this and previous years the northwest Association is thinking of scrapping the event so if you want to keep it please let me know and i will fight to keep it going but remember we need a very good turnout next year if it has not already been scrapped. to keep this competition going, ideal situation would be to know how many entire's we could expect next so i can put the point across at the next meeting of the northwest.
